Fri-YAY

You made it to the weekend (almost...a few more hours!)!!

{ONE}

I got to be the mom behind "takeover Tuesday" on the Kansas City Mom's blog instagram account on Tuesday.  I had so much fun posting about my day as a working mom of our 3 kiddos.  While I'm very happy that I don't have to post everything about my day EVERYDAY (I was somehow exhausted from doing it - or maybe it was just from the day in general), it was so fun to interact with the KCMB followers and get tips from them and share insight.

While sometimes the world of social media can be so negative, I loved being a part of that day and the mommas in KC interacting with me. Very happy to be a part of that contributor team.  Here is a glimpse of the pictures I posted!

{TWO}

Last weekend we ventured back to Lawrence for the KU Homecoming game.  Yes, they are terrible.  Yes, I went to K-State.  But even though my heart it with the Wildcats, the fact that this is 20 minutes down the highway, tickets were $9 each just for Jimmy and I (yes, they are THAT bad) and we get to spend time with neighbors and family is something I cannot pass up.

We always have a blast and seriously - our kids just love it.  Maddie is OBSESSED with the marching band.  Literally obsessed.  We now watch the Ohio State marching band regularly on You Tube.  I love it.

And teh good news is - traveling with three is getting more manageable.  However, once Mikey is on the go and moving - life = over! Haha!

{THREE}

My friend, Vanessa, likes to fuel my online shopping with her vidoes she posts for How Does She every Monday!  This Monday she posted these adorable booties that have a shorter heel.  I have ones that I love, but I've found I like those for occasions where I have to walk less and not chase my children.  And better yet, they were on sale AND on Amazon Prime.  Done.

I got them yesterday and can't wait to put to good use!  Thanks for the recommendation, Vanessa!

{FOUR}

In just a few weeks, we are leaving all three kiddos for the first time and heading down south to a wedding that Jimmy is in.  His friend from college is getting married in Houston and while the logistics of getting family to watch our kids Thursday - Sunday is not easy and the thought of being away from Mikey for 3 days literally breaks my heart....I'm also looking forward to some good quality time with my husband.

The wedding is black tie though - so I need to make sure I get a little fancy!!  Of course, I immediately go to Amazon to shop because why not.  I have bought some other dresses off of there for cheap and they were perfect.  I was thinking I needed a long more formal dress like this one...

But Jimmy is saying that I need a short dress!  Thoughts?  Black tie appropriate attire?? (also - I will have to pump in this, so keep that in mind!)

{FIVE}

Today is a day of Halloween parties!!!  Two of them.  Our kid's parties at school are the same exact time as the party my work has every year for everyone's kids.  BUMMER.  However, I left the option up to my kids and both of them made it very clear they wanted to come into my work (because apparently that is super cool!).  However, as we have drawn nearer to the day of their party, I'm nervous with all the excitement and preparation at school they are not going to want to leave.  Jimmy is going to gather all 3 and then bring them to my work, so I'm hopeful for no meltdowns about leaving their party!  Sad to miss seeing the parade with friends and activities in their classes - but I'm really excited for them to come in and show all my coworkers just really how adorable they are :)  Haha, hopefully they behave!!  Here is a picture preview of their outfits this year.

However, Maddie pulled an audible this morning and said she wanted to wear her Elsa costume instead of Bat Girl.  Go figure!  Wasn't a fight I was going to have, so she'll be princessed up today!

Hope everyone has a great pre-Halloween weekend!!!

PS Where has the month of October gone?  For reals.

Pink Antlers: DIY wooden sign

I posted a while back on a Five on Friday about some DIY signs that I wanted to do - one was a true DIY (that I still have yet to do...) but the other I completed at a workshop at Pink Antlers studio in Park Place (in Leawood by Town Center).

First of all - look at this completely ADORABLE storefront.  Holy cow - it is seriously the cutest store I've ever seen (I found this pic on their facebook page and now I think I need to go back ASAP!).  It's just as cute on the inside!

Ok, back to to the actual event that I attended.  It was awesome and hosted by Create Sabetha.  They are two ladies from the hometown of the owners and were awesome. They had everything laid out and ready and were so helpful!!!

I convinced my friend and neighbor Christine to come along and we loved it- besides the fact we are both perfectionists and had a hard time "rolling with" the measurements that didn't have to be perfect!!!

They also encouraged you to BYOB!!  I dropped the ball on this one because I was running all over before and so was Christine but next time I'm bringing a cooler of the Boulevard Orange cranberry radler!

So we had to peel off the letters, put the stencils on contact paper to get it to stick just right.  Then we painted the letters.  Then flip to the other side.  The first side we did was HARD because of lining everything up and learning how to get the contact paper down, but that made the other side way easier!!

When I got home later that night and it had dried-- I pulled off the stencils and wah-lah! Finished product.  Here is a look at the finished results and as I was pulling them off.

Here is the other side!! I love this for fall and all year long.  I'm looking for the perfect spot in my house though...I know there is one!!!

Seriously though- Pink Antlers has so many fun workshops and amazing and fun products in there shop.  If you are in KC- check them out!!  They even have make your own invitations.  These ladies are here to help the uncrafty people like me!!

(PS - this is all my personal review and I was not at all compensated!! I paid for the workshop and loved every dollar that I spent and will do another one too!!)

FIVE and FRIDAY

Happy FRIDAY!!!

{ONE}

Ok seriously - loved all the support about Noah's Bandage Project so much on Wednesday this week.  An amazing blogger even emailed me and said the cause spoke so much to her that she is going to have people bring bandaids to her son's birthday party.  HOW AWESOME!!

Thank you for spreading the word and the support of this amazing cause.  And just so you know, this wasn't a one time thing to gather bandaids - they are always collecting bandaids and sending them to hospitals all over the world - so don't feel like you missed the chance to participate!!

{TWO}

Tomorrow = October = decorated for fall!  Well, I actually did that a while back (and Charlie and Maddie were SOOOO excited), but I'm loving my combo wreath + dollar spot Target sign on the front door.  Perfect because I can easily remove the sign after Halloween and keep the wreath up for fall.

PS Isn't the back cute too!?

{THREE}

 I have a whole blog post coming that is "behind the pictures" because AGH.  Sometimes, we just have bad parenting days, right?  But here's a question for you...what to do if you kid legit HATES an activity that you have already paid for.  He doesn't so much hate soccer, but the indoor facility he doesn't like at all because his it hurts his ears.  I'm contemplating just stop taking him.  He does soccer at school and loves it and has loved it the last two years when we did it outdoors - but not indoors.  Too late to transfer to their outdoor program - but I hate wasting the money and if it seems like to him it's ok to "quit".

GRRR parenting.

But literally - he was so excited last week for soccer (see pic below).  And then we get there and BAM.  Meltdown because it's too loud.

{FOUR}

If you're in KC and/or a Chiefs fan, you'll want to jump on this amazing sale at  Freelance Clothing.  All their super cute Chiefs stuff is 50% off today.  NO WAY.  I must have the adorable unisex Arrowhead Hoodie.  Even though I'm not a diehard fan, my husband is, so I must look the part, right??  DUH!

{FIVE}

Finally - I'm kicking off my fitness challenge group for October on Monday and I'm SOOOO excited.  Going to keep up my good habits as I go into starting back up at work next week.  I'm going to post my results on my fitness blog soon - but today I have some must have fitness apps that I love!  Take a look HERE!!

With fall weather this weekend, we are excited to get out and about for the Aquinas homecoming game, celebrate Shining for Sharon, continue with our basement clean up and FINALLY - A SUSHI DATE NIGHT!!  I've been dying for this since Mikey was born almost 11 weeks ago!!

Cheers to the weekend!

Noah's bandage project - LINK UP!

Today is September 28!!  The day we are all linking up to spread awareness about childhood cancer AND the amazingness that is Noah's Bandage Project.  I'm so excited!

Like I mentioned in my post before, I was absolutely overwhelmed with how much support this received.  We were over at our neighbor's house on Friday night and they had SO many boxes full of bandaids in their entryway that were all from a local school district drive.  It's amazing.  They are just doing so many amazing things to spread the word about Noah's amazing project and continue to carry on his amazing legacy.  He was one amazing little boy with a heart of gold.  He thought about ways to help others when he was at his lowest...and he was only SIX.

Noah and his bandaids!
When I sent out the original email about this idea to about 10 of my blogger friends, one thing I was for sure of was how much fun bandaids can make kids smile.  The Wilson family obviously has lots of bandaids and when we were over there on Friday, they sent our kids home with a few...which they proceed to wear in the oddest places all weekend long (Maddie had one on her neck (see the picture below!), Charlie in the middle of his back...and both in the normal knee, arm places).  While it looked silly and there were no injuries, scraps or shots that the bandaid was protecting..it made me smile seeing how much they loved them and showing people them!  I can only imagine how the kids in the hospital battling cancer who are poked and prodded constantly feel - to get their favorite super hero or princess...or even a PICKLE bandaid (yes - those exist and Abraham Lincoln ones - all mentioned in Noah's video - the Wilson's have a shadow box with a picture of Noah and all those crazy bandaids he mentions in the video - pretty special!!).

(Maddie and her bandaid on her NECK!  Riding along with our neighbor!)
So thank you.  Thank you for posting about this.  Spreading the word about such an amazing family and project.  Thank you for sending bandaids.  For your donations.  But mostly, for all the emails and comments and text messages and letters (in the bandaid boxes) that I've received.  Notes telling me about your own loved ones battling cancer.  Your cousins, neighbors, students, family friend..or even your own son or daughter.  Know that these bandaids mean so much to each and every one of those kids, as well as the money being raised for pediatric cancer research.  I passed all the notes and comments along to Deb and Scott and they are loving them.

Mikey and I did our own shopping the aisles and found some pretty neat bandaids at our local Wal-Mart!

My favorite ones that we got were the Emoji bandaids - I love that the poop Emoji is in the shape of a circle.  I can only imagine how that will make some kid somewhere smile!

My shopping partner peeking his eyes open and some of our bandaids.

By Friday - I had gotten 6 packages from people ALL over the country with over 25 boxes of bandaids!  We took those over to their house on Friday night and they were so excited to get the boxes and the notes from you.  I have 10 more packages with multiple bandaid boxes in each of them sitting on my counter now - it's amazing all the good just a little word of mouth can bring!  I cannot wait to see how many more come to my house and I know there are so many more going to the address below!

Here are some details (in case you missed them before or are a new visitor):

  • Bandaids cannot be sent directly to hospitals, as they are hospital supplies, so funneling them through NBP is the way to go!
  • Monetary donations are also always welcome - the Wilson's are working to increase the lack of funding there is nationwide for pediatric research (only 4% currently!!!).  So far, they have raised $100K and that number continues to grow (donations can be made on their website:www.noahsbandageproject.com)
  • If you'd like to send bandaids to them, here is the PO address where they collect them:
    • Noah's Bandage Project
      119 N Parker Street Suite 110
      Olathe, KS 66061
  • Link up at below to promote NBP and pediatric cancer...OR use one of the hashtags on the image above on Instagram or Facebook to show your support

If you haven't watched this video - please please do.  It's amazing and Noah's story.  It tells his story of his idea to collect bandaids for other kids in the hospital and shows his passion for helping others.  As well as all about the amazing Wilson family and the reason they continue to collect bandaids for kids all over the world.  Each bandaid collected is just one more step in Noah's legacy.

This is Noah's story.  An amazing, wonderful story of an amazing, wonderful little boy.

I cannot wait to read each one of your posts - thank you so much for your support!

Fun morning at Home Depot

For the longest time I have heard about the free kid events at Home Depot and Lowe's, but have yet to try one with our kids.  Well since I recently downloaded the Home Depot app, it kindly reminds me of the upcoming events in my area!! Home Depot has completely free kid events the first Saturday of each month and since we didn't have soccer this weekend because of Labor Day, I thought it would be fun to try it out!!

Even better, the project was DIY white board.  Maddie and Charlie are obsessed with whiteboards!

It was outside and I immediately regretted my three quarters sleeve shirt...but other than that the weather was perfect.  It was the perfect little set up outside.  We just checked in to get our supplies and off they went!

Charlie attempted to hammer the nails---- and did good!  Maddie I gave her the hammer for one point five seconds and decided that was a horrible idea for a two year old!

The paint on the other hand was right up her alley!

Actually kind of SHARING!!!

We slightly modified the directions and didn't put the whiteboard sticker in there in case the painting got a bit reckless and they decided to paint the middle instead of just the sides.  Good thing because #painteverywhere might be an appropriate hashtag.

Normally, they also give out free kid aprons...but unfortunately they were all out this time.  Bummer.  Next time we will get some!

In the mean time- little brother Mikey...chilling in the car seat.  We are currently in mode GO EVERYWHERE because Mikey isn't mobile and sleeps in the car seat.  Six months from now this might be a different story and we will possibly be stuck at home unless beer is provided.

I didn't get a picture of the kids with their finished projects (after we got home, they dried and we still need to put on the whiteboard part!).  It was neat because at the end you showed the Home Depot lady the finished project and each kid got a certificate and pin (to put on your apron!).

Overall, it was pretty awesome!!! And legit free (which Jimmy didn't believe me!). If you're interested- check it out next month!! I'm obsessed with DIYing and so happy my dad and mom taught me how to use a hammer, nail and so much more so I'm pumped to teach our kids too!!

A crazy day at the K

This is how our Sunday started out.  Full bed and full hearts.  We had a busy Saturday after going to the KC cares walk through Childrens mercy hospital in the morning (and McAlister's for lunch- my new obsession!) and then had Jimmy's friends and their families over Saturday night.  So everyone "slept in" until 7 and it was truly glorious!!

We went to church and on the way home, Jimmy said- what do you think about going to the Royal's game today? Weather is perfect.

Ok - here's the deal.  Brittany two years ago wouldnt even have considered that crazy talk.  Like wait- you want to PAY money to go somewhere with three kid AND skip naps? Not going to lie, that was the first thought that came to my head.  But I didn't immediately respond.  I just kind of sat there thinking.

Thinking about how we haven't really gotten out of the house much as a family yet (I mean I know Mikey's only 1 month old...so that's normal) and really it's been because it's been SO hot and humid in KC.  But Maddie and Charlie have taken it in stride and really been very good being in the house most of the time.  We are always sticking to our schedule and never skip naps.  Never.

So I kicked my initial "absolutely not" out of my head--- and turned to jimmy and said "yeah, let's do it".  The look on his face when I said that was priceless.  We hurried home, got everyone dressed in royals (or ku or KC- because of course that was a battle), packed lunch for the car, bought tickets online, packed our bag and were off to the K!!

I decided to carry Mikey as I knew taking his car seat and big stroller would likely be a little inhibiting trying to get through people and up to our seats- so we decided on the umbrella stroller for Maddie and the ergo for big Mike.  Charlie had to walk - which he protested to at first but then we told him only big kids get to do that.  Haha.  They look so thrilled.

We met Jimmy's brother's (three of them that were there also) before the game to see the cousins and hang out a bit.  Charlie and Maddie were ancy to get in the stadium to each some COTTON CANDY!  In the mean time, Mikey was not too happy in the Ergo and then I quickly figured out why....when he puked all over me.  That was fun :)  Luckily I had a change of clothes for him - not so much for me.  Haha.  So I got to smell spit up the whole time, but at least he wasn't upset!

When we finally made it to our seats, we found the perfect spot to the side where we were all alone and there was some shade.  Kids got their first treat (cotton candy) and were satisfied. When that was done, they had a chance to roam the area and put down about every seat.  In the mean time, Mikey and I enjoyed the views and some nursing time.

Oh Pot Roast miss pickle bottom (BTW this is her brother's shirt...they are the same size - 4T!)

When they started to get restless, off to the bathroom dad and the big kids went and then got the second treat - popcorn!  Yum!

Annnndddd - of course we had to take a family selfie!
(PS I just love Charlie in his hat. So much!)

Mikey was so good hanging out and there was a nice breeze.  Slowly the sun started creeping into where we had found some shade though (bummer!) and I had to pee and Charlie kept asking when he could go play with Slugger.  So off we went to the bathroom first.  I could smell Mikey's diaper...but he was completely unphased getting changed.  It was hilarious - peaced out the WHOLE time I was changing him (it was a 4 wipe poop).  People were commenting on how funny it was!

What might have been funnier - was if people would have seen me going pee in the bathroom with Mikey in one hand ;)

Charlie, Mikey and I made it over to the kid's section at the K.  Maddie on the other hand - was not too happy.  No nap for Maddie is not pretty let's just say.  Jimmy said he spent 10 minutes with her right outside the elevator as she was completely flailing and SO strong and he couldn't get her to calm down.  So he just sat there while she through a fit on the floor and then he finally got her in the stroller - then she wouldn't let him push her.

BUTTTTT - they did finally make it over.  In the mean time, it was complete CHAOS in the kid's area of the K.  Charlie really wanted to get in the fountains they have in that area.  However, the lady behind us in line when we were waiting to get in the stadium told me that 2 years ago they brought their 2 and 4 year old here, let them play in the fountains and they got hand foot mouth.  So yes - my kids were not going into that fountain to play, sorry.  Charlie did play on the playground for awhile and loved it, but there were SO many kids everywhere.  We ran into two of Jimmy's brothers and hung with them for a little bit.  When Maddie and Jimmy found us, Maddie was so tired but demanded on playing with Charlie on the playground.  After about 5 minutes, not sure if Jimmy and I were just tired or paranoid about losing a child -but we pulled the plug.  The Royal's were up anyways and it was the 7th inning.

However, Charlie wasn't about to forget his third and final treat - he wanted some ice cream but I'm not kidding when I say the line to the Belfonte place was literally at least an hour long.  So dippin dots for the win (luckily we had a bit of cash left)!  Maddie was satisfied with fruit snacks (thank goodness).

When we were leaving - you could tell it was time to go.  However, Charlie was SO slow and we were SO far away from our car.  I am not kidding that at the moment I thought to myself, God help us - Bobby, Hillary and Jay showed up right behind us (Love that Jay and Mikey got to go to their first Royal's game at the same time!)!!  And Uncle Bobby to the rescue because he swooped Charlie up and put him on his shoulders.  Which is pretty awesome in general - but when you're 6ft 9in - that makes a shoulder ride like the best thing ever (Charlie was pumped!).  And then - just like that a guy in a golf cart shows up and offers to drive us to our car - OMG - lifesaver.  So seriously, that was not a coincidence - because while we had fun, I'm not going to lie that we were all exhausted and just so ready to get to the car.

And in about 5 minutes, this is what our back seat looked like.

Jimmy and I were both starving though because we didn't really eat, so we enjoyed some quiet "date" time and made a stop at Quik Trip for some tea, taquitos, a hot dog and shared a pretzel.  Now that's love.  Mikey started crying about half way to QT (which was right by our house), but the big kids stayed asleep somehow and I snuck him out of his car seat and fed him while Jimmy got our snacks.

And then being the mom ninja I am, I went through the back and got Mikey back in his car seat (while asleep - after he ate), without waking him or the big kids up.  Seriously #parentingwin right there.

Once we got home, the skipped naps were showing their ugly head.  Charlie was crying for no reason (aka tired) and Maddie was literally off the walls.  However, nothing the fuf and a movie can't fix.  And then after a delicious dinner of cereal (two kinds for them of course), it was time for baths and bed at 6:45.

Everyone slept like a champ (well, Mikey not so much because he slept most of the day!), but overall, I went to bed and I was just so happy in my heart.  Was the day long and tough?  Yes.  Were there moments that Jimmy and I were both frustrated?  Absolutely.  However, I'm so glad that we said "yes" because it was overall a fun day and a memory we will never ever forget.

As we were going to sleep, I was asking Jimmy if he thought I had changed in the last few years.  And he said I was absolutely almost a different person from when we got married - in a good way.  I was so much more laid back, went with the flow more than ever and he's loving every second of it.  And I told him that I felt the same way.  It's weird because the more kiddos and chaos we add to our family, the more relaxed I feel like I'm forced to be because honestly, there is just not the time or energy to stress about all the little things.  Go with the flow (to an extent) has turned out to be a lot more fun and enjoyable.  Yes, I still have meal plans, lists, schedules, etc.  I'm still a little crazy about things (like - it's non-negotiable to me that the kitchen as to be clean at night - the floors/toys...not so much a must for me anymore!).  You won't see me giving up my calendar (or calendars) anytime soon - but I'm loving the person and mom and wife I'm becoming.  It's amazing how you are constantly changing as a person and I'm so thankful that my kiddos are making me better each day.  A little more crazy and throw in some gray hair popping through- but better in the long run for sure!!!!

The {unexpected} final weekend

Before everything baby Mikey overtakes the blog (birth story, newborn pictures, life with 3!)...I had started to draft this post pre-Mikey and didn't want it to get lost because it was a special "last" weekend as a family of 4 - even though I didn't have the best attitude about it at the time....because 100 degrees and pregnant isn't that fun.  So here's a recap of the fun we had exploring KC as our last weekend as Carter party of 4.

*******

So we thought that baby #3 was coming on Friday (7/15) - but as I mentioned...all the #worldseriesbabies in KC kind of messed that up and we got the boot at the hospital (after being wait listed).  I got the initial "you're third on the wait list" call around 5:15 on Thursday night. Charlie and I were heading to go see The Secret Life of Pets at 5:30 so at least it took my mind off of it.  It was a cute movie with my best little man!  (Maddie and dad were at gymnastics!)

Needless to say, Friday was mentally hard for me!  I mean tell someone they are going to have a baby and I mentally prepared to meet this little one on Friday and relish in I wouldn't be pregnant anymore.  Luckily, Jimmy was at home with me and we spent the day together and got some super spicy Kung pao chicken and hot and sour soup...

...and I cut up a whole pineapple and tried to force myself to eat it!!

By the time we picked the kids up on Friday afternoon, I knew I had to pull it together and relish in the fact it was our last full weekend together as a family of four!!  My sister and her husband brought over dinner and hung out, which was delicious and a nice distraction!!  So Saturday I was set on getting us all out and trying to enjoy it (even if I was huge pregnant and soooo sick of people commenting on my belly and it was so hot).

We met my parents for breakfast at Big Biscuit and then headed to Deanna Rose farmstead.  We buy my dad a season pass for Christmas every year and we haven't gotten out there this year.  So even though it was hot- like so hot- we had a great time!!  Got to see the cow get milked, feed the baby goats (hilarious!), feed the ducks, ride the tractors, play on the playground- and Charlie's favorite part....FISHING!!!! He loved it so much and really liked that he legit caught two fish on his own!!!

Right after we got home from Deanna rose, I quickly changed and headed to lunch at Paulo and Bills with my high school friends.  I really wanted to sulk and just lay in bed while my kids napped- but knew I would've been sad missing out to meet baby Calvin and seeing Jen and Tommy who were in town from California and Lauren and Landon in town from Wichita.

Lots of babies!!!!  We missed Amy (who was at the lake) and Katie (who lives in Oklahoma and was in town the weekend before).

I LOVED holding baby Calvin!!!! He's a little nugget at around 9 lbs still (likely the size of baby carter #3) {hahahahahah....oh if I only knew at the time I typed this, which was pre-Mikey, how true that would be!!!}.

After lunch, I got home and we packed everyone up and headed to the pool.  It was nice to see a bunch of neighbors (and recount why I wasn't in the hospital...) but I was pooped.

My mom brought over some delicious lasagna that we all inhaled and even better- I didn't have to cook it!

While we were planning on going to church, Jimmy had already canceled his volunteering in the nursery because we thought we'd be in the hospital so he didn't want to go...so we just hung out at home and enjoyed a nice little quiet Sunday morning.  And apparently the kids were just as anxious as we were to meet their new baby!

Maddie was getting into her normal shenanigans - she spent some naked time coloring...

...and attempting to potty train her baby doll.  Who later had the unfortunate incident of getting dunked in the toilet (oops!)

Sunday after naps, we headed down to Crown Center to explore the free Mr. Potato head exhibit they had. The funny thing was...they loved it, which I wasn't sure what they would think. Even though it was a somewhat small exhibit, it wasn't too busy, there was an indoor slide and lots of fun stuff to do in there - including assembling Mr. Potato heads.  We also checked out the Crayola store there (and did some drawing) and also the new set up of Halls.  We haven't been down to Crown Center in a while - which is funny after working there (or next to it) for 5.5 years!  The next few days - Charlie was begging to go back! Ha!

\

After that, we headed to Ponak's (our favorite Mexican restaurant).  It was good, but everyone had to pee like 45 times, Maddie ate nothing, Charlie ate the entire bowl of guacamole (and nothing else) and it was like 7000 degrees in the restaurant.  So yeah, I was ready to go home and go to sleep!!

And then I was having TERRIBLE pressure.  Like intense and a lot.  It was enough that it was super uncomfortable to even sit down.  Jimmy swore up and down that this was the same thing I said the night I went into labor with Maddie.  So I called the doctor to see what she thought.  She told us to go into the L&D triage to make sure - apparently she had recently had a patient due with baby #3 that delivered the baby in the car because she didn't make it in time!!  EEKK.  And when she told me the ridiculous amount of money it cost them to get the car cleaned, Jimmy and I agreed to just go in.

It was a little surreal packing everything up.  I wasn't sold that this was it, but I was somewhat excited about the possibility.  And I made Jimmy take this ridiculous picture.

So then we got to the hospital, they hooked me up, said the baby was good and healthy and I was just feeling some intense contractions (that they were monitoring on the screen)...but when she checked me she said I was still at a 2 only.  So that meant no progress from when I was checked at 38 weeks.  Huge bummer.  My blood pressure was a high a few times, so we had to stay a little bit and make sure it went down and then I told her I was just ready to go home because...nope...it wasn't labor.

When we got home around midnight and thanked my mom for coming over, I was quite upset.  But was hopeful that Tuesday it would still happen.  I'm not going to lie - the hardest thing about the end of pregnancy is getting through the mental aspect...and this was a HARD mental thing to get over because I literally thought I was going to meet my sweet baby on Friday - but God had other plans and we ended up having a good weekend with just Maddie and Charlie until baby #3 makes our family and hearts a little bigger!!
