25 weeks!

All right - we made it through week 24 without killing each other or any additional major breakdowns.  I call that a success!!!

I will say the remainder of the week was MUCH better.  It really kicked off with going over to my mom's house on Friday night to finish up our taxes (I know, slackers....).  It was just me and her there and she sat me down and made me make a decision on nursery colors.  She made me and said "Don't look at Pinterest any longer".  That is one thing that I will listen to.  Want a preview?  Well - I ultimately decided we need to get going on this nursery and to skip the DIY wainscoting that I talked about before and just go with paint.  Paint colors: Gray walls with a big navy strip with small lime green stripes on each side of the navy.  Here's where I got the idea...but be forewarned, we are NOT doing all the intricate striped.  Eek - I might have the baby before that happens with my lack of patience combined with perfectionism.  Here is the link to the nursery inspiration!

So once that was decided on and the taxes were done - I ordered the crib.  And then on Sunday we were up early to visit baby Jackson again and then off to Buy Buy Baby to register.  I'm not going to lie.  I was pretty much dreading this process.  And dread might be an understatement.  But honestly, it wasn't that bad and turned out to be kind of fun (once we made it to the fun stuff!).  The people there were super helpful as well as having my Baby Bargains book on hand that even though I had read it all (and it's long people), I referred back to the different sections for their recommendations as we made our way through.  It was then that my husband had his first real "WOW THIS IS GOING TO CHANGE OUR LIVES AND ALREADY HAS" moment.  We were standing in the bottle/nipple section of the store.  Trying to figure out what size of nipple to get for the bottles looking at the hundreds of options - not aware 2 minutes ago that there were so many to choose from.

He said, staring in awe up at the large array of nipples, "It's crazy that my life has come to this - trying to decide what type of nipples our son needs on a Sunday morning at 11AM.  Life sure has changed!".  Oh yes Jimmy, it has only just begun.

And I'm done with typing the word "nipple" for the rest of this post.  Sorry for the overload.\

But we did get through registering and walked out spending a ton of $$ on our glider/recliner I had mentioned before.  And happy that we did it then because it has to be ordered and will take 8-12 weeks to arrive.  Good thing because there are only 16 weeks left until little baby Carter arrives and we will need that.  And strollers.  OMG so cool.  That's all I have to say.

SO - with that said, it was a great week.  Lots of things accomplished and a room that is completely cleared out and ready to be painted!!!!  The taping has already begun and my mom and sister are coming over Saturday afternoon/evening to help out with all that.  Can't wait to get that done so we can set up the crib and hang up all his cute little clothes.  I'm also making that sweet shelf/bench thing in the nursery inspiration post and some cute under the window bookshelves.

And in other news - the bathroom is now all tiled.  Dave and Jimmy did an amazing job and Dave is pretty much the nicest person ever because he spent his whole weekend and Tuesday and Wednesday at our house to finish it all with Jimmy.  I will post pictures soon!!

In the mean time, here are some belly pictures.  And whoa baby. This baby and mama are growing.  My belly keeps getting bigger!!!!

Typical dog picture.  He follows me around EVERYWHERE now.

I will show you an outtake of this "photo shoot"because I was trying to literally drag Toby into the picture and he wouldn't come.  Amusing when self-timer is on too.  Because I was thinking that I might have just drug him over far enough, but NOPE.  Just me, my crazy hair and an attempted smile.  Haha.  This makes me smile/laugh out of all of them.

How far along: 25 weeks
Size of Baby BOY Carter: 1.5-2.5 lbs and 14 inches
Fruit/vegetable comparison: Size of an eggplant!
Total weight gain: 15lbs
Sleep:  Doing better - went 2 nights this week NEVER waking up to go pee.  But I think that is because I went to bed super late and got up super early, but I'll take it!
Movement: Lots of it.  I love it.  I will be in the middle of a meeting and BOOM there he is.
Unglamorous body changes: Feeling better about the body changes this week.
Food cravings: Nothing really this week!
What I miss: Drinking pop.  Lots of pop whenever I want and not feeling guilty.
Strange experiences: None this week
Milestones: He has a better sense of equilibrium (knows if he's up or down)!
Best moment this week: Sunday evening (last week) looking back at the weekend and FINALLY having a decision on the nursery decor, getting to look at a cleaned out room that will be transformed into a nursery, buying the paint and ordering the crib, dresser and glider.  Whew - huge sigh of relief for this mama to be! AND finding out that Baby Carter and Baby Jackson will have a little baby girlfriend to play with come the end of August.  That's right, Vanessa and Chris will be welcoming a little baby GIRL into the world and we cannot wait!!!!!!!

  1. I really like the stripe...can't wait to see the progress! And I agree about the strollers--I told Chris I was going to quit my job and become a baby gear reviewer. I love this stuff!
